Bye, bye, Palace...

Yep, it is official, I no longer own the palace. Why was it called the palace, well Joe said, "only a palace for my queen." ha, ha, ha. Four months of living in it with Joe, four years of remodeling, two years of trying to sell it and finally, it belongs to someone else. There were allot of tears, grief, sorrow, and sadness in that house. There was also allot of growth, soul searching, testimony building and love within those walls. But, all in all, it was not mine, and I never wanted it. It was only a resting place for a short season. Tears, nope; sadness, nope; only happiness that another family can take that cute little house and make it a home with happy memories and love. I will miss my neighbors-- the warm bread, the little Olsen boys, the teenagers across the street, my "I have an idea buddy" and the whole Orangeville 3rd ward.

I won't miss frozen pipes, broken sprinkler heads, mowing the lawn, the mud, and traveling highway 6. Bye, bye, Palace...

I am going to work at the Family History Library in downtown Salt Lake City.
It will be fun and I will be able to see if I have been doing my family history right!!! Ya know, after being a family history consultant in three different Stakes, and teaching the family history class, it is about time I get to work in the "big house" with all the records!!!

Easter 2010

So we are driving out to the sites on the desert, which by the way was windy, really windy, and freezing cold, and Trekker comes up with an idea: "Maybe if you bring your Easter basket next year grandma, the Easter Bunny will bring you a grandpa!" Maybe...but, I'd rather have chocolate.

computers, you gotta love 'em, but

Yep, yep, yep, I have survived another computer crash! As I related the story to the computer fixer person, he laughed. Here's what happened: I was just trying to get my speakers hooked up and working. I moved over a year and a half ago and have not had any speakers. I finally realized one of the problems--they need to be plugged into an electrical outlet. After plugging them in and re-starting my computer they still did not work. So I followed the prompts. I did two of the three suggestions and on the third it prompted that it would automatically shut down the computer. Just at that exact moment, I find out from the computer fixer person, is when the automatic updates updated, and just one second before the screen comes on telling you to "not shut down your computer" you should not shut down your computer.

Yep, yep, yep, a nasty mess. I lost everything. Pictures, family history, family history pictures, all of my business documents, accounts, and correspondence.

The computer fixer person looked at the damages and luckily he was able to find all of my pictures and documents and he compared it to throwing all of your papers up in the air with a fan blowing. He found it, but it was messy.

Is it just me that has problems with their computers. Seriously, viruses and now this miscalculated automatic shut down is costing me a fortune and making me nuts. Funny thing, I have an external hard drive back up, but who can figure out how to make it work and retrieve from it? (The customer service # connects you to someone in another country who speaks broken English and does not even have a computer. That's more drama for a different day.)

Surely, there must be an easier way. For now, I trust nothing. Everything is backed up on a flash drives, just like I used to back everything up on floppies. Now I have a collection of floppies and flash drives.

P.S. I still have not used the speakers--I can't afford another crash...physically or mentally!!!
