P.S. to the Anniversary Post

I would have attached our "cool" wedding pictures, the ones with my "Farrah Fawcett" hair and big glasses and Joe's "Saturday Night" John Travolta look, but the stupid scanner isn't working.  Hopefully, I described it well enough for you to imagine it, or remember what those pictures looked like!

Anniversary

It should entitle this "Happy Anniversary", but it's not.  It's sad.  It hurts.  Sure all of the stuff I know it my head about eternity and forever, does not make my heart hurt any less.  It's broken and there is no way around that.  You don't just love someone for thirty years and then let it go.  Instead you miss them more and more everyday that your apart.
So, let's see if I can remember 30 things about the day I was married.
  1. The morning we got married, Joe picked me up early and we went to his house where his mom cooked us breakfast
  2. Joe did not sleep the night before we got married which explains #29
  3. It wasn't until I was driving to the ceremony that it suddenly all became very real
  4. We were married at Seven Oaks Reception Center in Salt Lake City, Utah
  5. Joe looked very handsome in his white tux and full beard
  6. My dress made me feel like a princess
  7. My something old was my necklace, something new was my dress, something borrowed was my slip and something blue was my garter
  8. My colors were peaches and cream
  9. My bouquet was peach roses on a fan, and it was beautiful
  10. My cake top was a blown glass heart with doves hanging from the middle
  11. My bridesmaids were:  Lanette, Jolene, Ruby, Amanda, and Cindy
  12. The groomsmen were: Joe, Ben, LaRonzo, Randy and Mark
  13. Ben was late getting there and we almost started without him
  14. My friend Marilyn sat at my book
  15. My friend Melanie helped with gifts
  16. Dawn Fairbanks played the prelude music
  17. As my dad and I walked down the stairs, I prayed I would not fall, but my knees were shaking like crazy
  18. I was so nervous during the ceremony I never heard a word that was said
  19. Yes, there is a dragon fly on the breast of the statue in all of my pictures
  20. No, I did not look to see if it was still there during the ceremony because I did not want to draw attention to the prank those "dumb boys" did
  21. Instead of playing the wedding march at the end of the ceremony we played Queen's "Another One Bite's the Dust"
  22. Refreshments were cake and punch
  23. There were real doves in the cage behind us at the reception hall
  24. Yes, there is a picture of me flipping the "bird" to LaRonzo, but I generally deny and try to hide it
  25. My white heals gave me terrible blisters
  26. We left the reception in our blue Ford Futura
  27. After the reception we stopped and ate at Dee's and had steak 'n Swiss burgers, Joe's favorite
  28.  "Someone" did not make hotel reservations, so we had to look for a room late that evening, and the first few hotels were full
  29. It's true someone fell asleep, and it wasn't me
  30. It was the happiest day of my life

This week

Monday I went to the Zone Family Home Evening.  We ate yummy food, listened to some wonderful violin and piano duets,  and afterward I took this picture walking back to my car.
Friday, evening I attended the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Orchestra at Temple Square, it was wonderful.
Saturday morning on the way to the Library this is what the moon looked like.
Good thing I got that deck stained and sealed, it rained today.

Month 6-October 2010 Mission-Random Pictures

The view of the Salt Lake Temple I see everyday I serve my mission.
The main floor entrance at the FHL
 Oh the films, US/Canada floor
The view outside the US/Canada Zone office window
 Fall flowers
the leaves beginning to turn.

Temples

Yesterday morning I left my house around 6:45 am to go to the FHL.  While waiting at the stop sign to the entrance of my subdivision, I usually try to locate the two temples across the lake,

  Mt Timpanogos

and Provo.

I then decided to count the temples I pass on my way to my mission.

From Redwood Road I can see the Mt.Quirrah Hills temple,

the Draper temple,

and the Jordan River Temple.

After I park the car and while walking to the back door of the Library, I see the spires on the Salt Lake Temple.  That is a total of 6 temples I see on the days I serve my mission.

President Packer said it best,  "No work is more of a protection to this Church than temple work and the family history research that supports it. No work is more spiritually refining. No work we do gives us more power. No work requires a higher standard of righteousness."
And that is why I feel so blessed to pass by these holy structures as I go to serve and help others in their research.

Fortunes

I just added another fortune

to my fortune cookie sayings
(on the right hand side under the pics and quotes)

and I suddenly realized

Everyone will now know how much I eat Chinese take out! ! !

New Camera

I had to buy a new camera.  I went into the store and pulled out my old camera and explained that I wanted the same model.  The salesman told me that my camera was not made anymore, but now there are "better" ones with sharper pictures.  When I sighed, he asked, "what do you like about that camera."  Immediately I replied, "I know how to use it."  And you know what--that is what I LOVE about my old camera, I know how to use it.
So, after a couple of attempts, here are my pictures.

They are from last winter down in Orangeville during a snow storm.  I would love to show new pictures from my new camera--it has more pixels and a better zoom.

But, I can't figure it out.

Month 5-September at the Family History Library

What is the best part of serving a mission at the FHL?  Researching, learning about researching, and helping others research.

What is the sweetest part of serving a mission at the FHL?  Working with the other missionaries and patrons.

What is the most sacred part of working at the FHL?  Every morning upon entering the building the Spirit and holiness of the structure takes my breath away.  It's the Spirit of Elijah, that washes throughout the building and consumes every individual who enters it.

What is the ickiest part of working at the FHL?  Leaving my house at 6:15 a.m., especially when it is dark outside.

On Monday, September 27, 2010 I attended the monthly zone Family Home Evening.  We had pot luck and then Brother W. Herbert Klopfer spoke.  Here is a short bio of Brother Klopfer from the Desert News:
W. Herbert Klopfer is the former president of the Salt Lake City Eagle Gate Stake and served as a member of the 1985 Hymnbook Committee and the General Music Committee. His current assignments include coordinating music at Church headquarters and providing music support for regional stake conference and worldwide training broadcasts.  (http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/51496/Power-in-music-to-praise-the-Lord.html)
Brother Klopfer shared several stories with us and it was a wonderful opportunity to listen and be filled with the Spirit.   My Dad knows Brother Klopfer because he lived in our ward when I was a baby.  So, here is a picture of my Dad and Brother Klopfer.

Kaleb's Quilts
