Just a Thought...

don't drink & drive

(picture stolen from Athena's Facebook)

Isn't it sad that they all have to grow up never knowing or remembering their grandpa.  He was such an amazing man who would have loved them more than the world.  He would have taken them fishing, given them cinnamon bears, wrestled with them until they giggled so hard they couldn't stand it.  They would have known how "big" he was when he walked into a room, they would have known his large hands and his bald head.  They would have felt his scratchy beard, and heard his laugh.  They even would have heard him snore.  But, they will never know these things of their grandpa because he was killed by a drunk driver who was a repeat offender.  Instead, what they know is a cold granite headstone in a cemetery.  They also know grandma cries and misses grandpa.

We really need to do something about our DUI laws.  How many chances does a drunk get?  Joe didn't get a chance, he was killed instantly when the drunk slammed in him at 75 mph.   The drunk who killed Joe was arrested just 6 months prior to this incident.  His driver's license was taken away and there were a total of 10 things he was supposed to do for his penalty, he did none of them and instead kept drinking--6 months later my husband is dead.  Six years later my husband is still dead,  I still cry, my children miss their daddy, and my grand children still don't know who their grandpa is, but the drunk will be out in six months.
