You are his namesake,
both given and sir,
but you will never know him.

You have his blood,
DNA and features,
however you never saw him.

You know his son,
daughters, wife,
and have their memories.

He will never touch you,
nor you him,
but his life and yours touch.

He is a memory,
and you will remind us of him,
but you are you; a part of him.

  1. What a touching poem; I'm so glad to have found it.

I don't think you'd commented on my blog before today -- my goodbye post -- so I have not known about yours. Our losses were so close together, we could have walked as companions on this Widow Road.

May you find peace, and may your beloved Joseph dwell in Eternal Memory.
